HANDBUILT EARTHENWARE BOWLS
This series of large earthenware bowls were a playful exploration of reintroducing surface decoration. Each bowl is hand-built and painted with underglazes sealed under a glossy low-fire clear glaze. The simple color of the earthenware clay was left on the exterior of the bowls while little hiccups of the painting inside peek over the edges. This is meant to draw the viewer closer, as if putting them in the position of a voyeur looking through a window.
