ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Anne Mormile is an artist and University Lecturer living and working in Western NY. She earned her BA in Graphic Design, and her BFA in Ceramic art from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 2003 and 2004; after which, she managed a private ceramic studio and instructed a variety of community arts classes before attending graduate school. In 2011, she completed her MFA in ceramics from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. After obtaining her MFA, Anne managed the ceramic studio and instructed courses in pottery, drawing and art history at the University of Pittsburgh in Bradford, PA, and obtained a position at St. Bonaventure University where she is currently the university's visual arts lecturer. As an artist, she finds immeasurable inspiration from her gardening practice and travel. Her work is deeply tied to anthropomorphism, or the connection of human traits to the natural elements, plants, animals, and environments surrounding us. Anne’s curiosity and sense of play drives a continual evolution within her work, and though she is a lecturer and mentor to others, she remains always, a perpetual student. . |
